Meet Our Youth Ambassador

Jean Yu is a high school senior at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. As a young girl, she was shocked to learn that girls her age had to deal with VVF and is passionate about spreading awareness through the youth community. She has helped to raise over $1,000 to fund surgeries for women with VVF. As an internationally-acclaimed violinist, she has performed violin at fundraising events and helped to design flyers for events.

Outside of HVVFF, Jean is a dedicated Girl Scout and has earned the Gold Award and is part of the Girl Scout Selection Committee for the Council of Young Women of Distinction She is also passionate about research and has interned at the Stanford University School of Medicine as well as the Emory University School of Medicine. Jean has received a grand award from the world's biggest science fair for high schoolers: the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair and has also received outstanding presentation awards at professional research conferences, representing her lab at Emory University. In the future, Jean plans on majoring in science and using her research and computer science skills to be a changemaker.
