Meet The Team

Fatima Abubakar obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Stetson School of Business and Economics Mercer University, Atlanta, GA. She holds a distinguished Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia State University, J. Mack Robinson College of Business, Atlanta, Georgia. She is an accounting expert that has worked in several organizations in Atlanta, Georgia. She is extremely passionate about African development issues relating to women and children. She is also an advocate of “improving women’s reproductive health in Africa.”

Ekene Omozegie obtained a Master of Accountancy and a Master of Business Administration from the Stetson School of Business and Economics, Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia. She also has a Master’s degree in Managerial Psychology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. Ekene is a licensed CPA in the state of Georgia, United States. She has over 10 years of work experience in the financial industry with expertise in Liquidity Management, Relationship Management, and Accounts Reconciliation. Upon completion of her dual MBA/MACC at Mercer University, she worked as a Financial Analyst at NCR Corporation, supporting Global Business Services and the Corporate Controllership Finance teams. She joined Ernst and Young LLP in 2018, and now serves as a Senior in the firm’s Assurance Service Line. Ekene was an active member of AISEC International as an undergraduate student and successfully set up exchange programs between employers in Nigeria and students abroad. Mrs. Omozegie is extremely passionate about serving others and is very excited about an opportunity to serve on the board and Executive team.
Ekene lives in Atlanta Georgia.


Dr. Chiemelie Ebeledike specializes in Emergency Medicine. She holds an Associates Degree in Biology and a B.S. degree in Biology from Georgia State University, College of Arts & Science. A Doctorate Degree in Doctor of Medicine from Medical College of Georgia. She is servicing her residency at Advocate Christ Hospital in Chicago. She is extremely passionate about Public Health Issues in Sub-Saharan Africa particularly women’s health. She is very excited about an opportunity to serve on the board of HVVFF.
Amina Wali-Shafeeq, serves on the board of both the American HVVFF initiative and the Nigerian HVVFF initiative. Mrs. Wail-Shafeeq is a Development Consultant currently pursuing her PhD in International Relations. She earned her distinguished undergraduate and graduate degrees in International Relations, History and Politics from Webster University Geneva, Switzerland. Mrs. Wali-Shafeeq also has a Certificate in Refugee and Migration Studies from Webster University Geneva. She further served as Principal Research Assistant, to the Head of the International Relations Department, at Webster University, Geneva. She has worked and assisted in several International Affairs conferences in Switzerland, Canada, United Kingdom and the United States. She has conducted research on several important issues ranging from political economy to development studies. She is extremely passionate about humanitarian issues related to gender, children, political economy and sustainable development.

Nidhi Verma leads HVVFF's long-term technology vision and is responsible for facilitating the technical community within HVVFF. She is currently working in the IT Security industry as a Security Response Engineer in Atlanta, GA. Nidhi holds a Master of Science in Information Technology - Security and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Kennesaw State University. Her research focused on Data & Cloud Security. Her passion for public health has blossomed through the HVVFF mission.

Aisha Mohammed holds a BA in Business and Finance and a Masters in International Business from Hult International Business School, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. She has worked in several Capacities in the field of business development and marketing. She is very passionate about women's empowerment through skill acquisition and education.

Hauwa Abdulrahman holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. She is currently an intern at the National Assembly Clinic, Abuja, Nigeria. She has experience in hospital and community pharmacy and is a strong advocate for the elimination of counterfeit drugs from the Nigerian market. She is also passionate about campaigns that support improving women's health and mental health. She is very excited about the opportunity to serve on the board of HVVFF Nigeria.

Jean Yu is a high school senior at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. As a young girl, she was shocked to learn that girls her age had to deal with VVF and is passionate about spreading awareness through the youth community. Jean has helped to raise over $1,000 to fund surgeries for women with VVF. In addition, as an internationally-acclaimed violinist, she has performed violin at fundraising events and helped to design flyers for events.
Outside of HVVFF, Jean is a dedicated Girl Scout, has earned the Gold Award, and is part of the Girl Scout Selection Committee for the Council of Young Women of Distinction. She is also passionate about research and has interned at the Stanford University School of Medicine and the Emory University School of Medicine. Jean has received a grand award from the world's biggest science fair for high schoolers: the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, and has also received outstanding presentation awards at professional research conferences, representing her lab at Emory University. In the future, Jean plans on majoring in science and using her research and computer science skills to be a changemaker.
